Live, Laugh, Love Lisbon

You will laugh all night long as you walk down the cobbled pavements, You will love the warm and friendly people and you will live like you have never lived before. Lisbon is truly the place to be.

A girlie getaway was definitely the shout for Nays 27th birthday, so 5 of us chicas packed our bags and headed to lively Lisboa to let the festivities commence!!! We managed to bag cheapy cheapy flights with both Ryanair and German Wings.

Until flying with German Wings we were all certain that Ryanair was the worst airline, as in, you get what you pay for - no extras - but alas, German Wings is by far the most horrrendousssssssssssssss of them all!!!! We know we can't go around making those accusations with no reasoning so here are our top 5 reasons German Wings SUCKS:

1. They wouldn't allow  us to check in online - We ended up queuing (we use the term queuing lightly as it was more like a moshpit)  for the duration of 3 hours, almost missed our flight, to then arrive at the gate and be told we have a 3 hour delay!!!!! The SCOUNDRELSSS!

2. They will sell your seat (that you paid for) - Our friend was told (once already on the plane with the pilot stating it was time for lift off) that they had given her seat away to a lady who had missed her flight before! I MEAN REALLY TRICK????

3. The chairs are like cardboard boxes injected with Botox - STIFF

4. The take off  is so outrageously unsteady you begin praying that your family will be okay without you

5. The German Wings staff at the airport were wearing jeans...JEANSSS???!!!! We don't trust people that aren't in uniforms lol

The biggest lesson here though is STOP BEING CHEAPSKATES!! We have vowed to never do cheap indirect flights again. Amen

Anywhoooooooooo Back to la la la la la la Lisbon!

Our girl Ali really knocked the ball out the park choosing our accommodation for the trip. She bagged us an incredible 3 bedroom apartment with a HUGE patio via Airbnb.

Our apartment was extremely close to two well connected stations and a short taxi ride from the city centre. Our hosts were AMAZING and helped us with everything from transport to ordering us Pizza lol. If you are travelling to Lisbon in a large group we would definitely recommend staying at Sara & Sergio's gorgeous apartment.

We really managed to indulge in a plethora of  things during our stay - below are some of our favourite discovered spots for dancing, eating, exploring, and sleeping (along with some funny tales :)

Things to see

The first thing we wanted to do was find out about the history of Lisbon - for this we headed to the amazing Lisboa Story Centre. There you will find out all there is to know about Lisboa! They provide you with censored headsets which enable you to take your time nosing around as the history is being spoken into your ears. Honestly this has to be one of the best Museums we have ever been to!

Strolling around Lisbon it is impossible not to bump into astounding monuments, and strikingly beautiful architecture. We definitely suggest a venture to Praca do Comercio where you will see the amazing Arch. Make sure you take a trip to the top, there you will experience great views of the entire city.

We filmed a corny video once we got to the top lol

Places to eat

Povo is a must if you are looking for a trendy eatery that serves authentic Portuguese food.

Another must for food is the amazing Mercado de Ribiera! We ate soooo much that we literally rolled out of there, the food was too amazing and there is a massive selection of restaurants and bars to choose from. Here's us grabbing drinks & laughs at CINCO para beber!

One of our best dinners came from a quaint little restaurant in Belem near the Praça Afonso de Albuquerque square - unfortunately there are no websites for these little gems but there are a bunch of great eats to try in the area. After your meal definitely take a late night stroll to the Belem tower and around the many Jardins within the area -  their beauty is breathtaking at night.

Things to do

Feira da Ladra "The Thief Market"  - this amazing market has everything you could ever possibly want and NOT need lol! From bits of furniture, to sunnies, to comics, to jewelry, there is something for everyone! Nay picked up an amazing lamp which she had to practically carry back on her head as it was too big for her hand luggage lol. She also picked up some gorgeous tiles (also too big and heavy for her case - are you seeing a running theme here?? haha) and cute bits of jewellery, I don't know how that girls suitcase didn't burst - she never fails to amaze me! Jade left wearing everything she bought including 5 rings, 2 necklaces, sunnies, a fedora and a bodysuit for 1 EURO lol - BARGAIN!!! It seemed like everything cost "Três" (3 Euros) so you can only imagine how wild we got! Even if you're not a shopper this is definitely a must see!

LX Factory - This awesome places is like a mini Shoreditch but MUCH better. Its the place to be for all creatives with tonnes of studios which are occasionally opened up for visitors. They also have some really cool interior design stores, restaurants and clothing shops. Our fave interior store by FARRRR was Kare we literally went wild in that place. Definitely where we will be going back to purchase furniture for our new homes!  Jades fave purchase was her Pug pillow which drew us a lot of attention in the airport as it looked so REAL (they almost turned her away from the check in desk saying there is a no dog policy lol)! Our absolute favourite was the most fantastic bookstore in the WORLDDD, Ler Devagar. This little haven used to be a printing factory, they still have all of the old equipment inside so it feels so authentic and special. They also have a bar inside, yep, A BAR and it closes at like 1am so you can sip on some red and read yourself a lil fairy-tale. You can see us messing around inside whilst drinking a couple glasses of wine ;)

Hit the Beach - We headed down to a beach in Estoril on the southern coast of Portugal. I can't lie we were definitely UNDERwhelmed by the man-made looking nature of it. But we made the most of everything, making new friends, splashing around and popping champagne for the bday girl :D

We also grabbed some snacks and cocktails at this swanky beach bar Blanco. They have nice pool with great views of the ocean.

Nights Out

Our first night out was at The Docks Club in the South West corner of Lisbon, literally on the docks! We danced away to Afro-House, Kizomba, Afro-Beats and you know they had to drop that Hip hop and Trap. We get the feeling this is the place to see and be seen in Lisbon filled to the brim with gorgeous & handsome late twenty-something party-ers. For this joint you need to be dressed to impress and ready to pop champagne, definitely a great night for the trendy traveler!

Copenhagen is the spot for that laid back attire and lovers of old school Hip hop and Rnb. The only thing laid back about this spot is what you can wear as it gets turnt ALL THE WAY UP!!! This is definitely one of the best night spots in Lisbon - make sure its high up on your to do list!

Jamaica Club - This place fed our little Caribbean souls, there were many "PULL UPPPPPP"'s and many circles made for us to shut down the dance floor - how could we not? We Jamaican and dem nah bad like we!!! If you're in the mood for strictly reggae, bashment and dancehall - this is the place for you. With an eclectic mix of people and a DJ who knows his stuff this is definitely the after party spot for those who wanna keep the party going!

Ondeando - Roughly 40 minutes drive outside of Lisbon in the district of Amora is this booming Discoteca! Get ready to get up close and personal to the Kizomba with the Portuguese Papis, aye aye aye! This place is FUEGO and is definitely the hotspot for the locals which is part of its charm. Here you get to mix with the real people of Portugal and dance the night away to all their favourite tracks. This is quite far from Lisbon so be prepared for your English not to be understood and make sure you don't get gassed dancing and leave at 6am with no ride home and no taxis in sight... (that didn't happen to me and Nay -_-) we made it home safe anyway so POW!!!
Clubs we didn't get to to check out but you should are: Lux & Urban Beach for house and Be Leza for that real Kizomba vibe.

What a GREAT trip, we cant wait for y'all to follow us on our next adventure #WHERETONEXT???
