Racing around the South of France: Grand Prix Style

Ahhh now this was a trip to remember! Defo ticked off one from the bucket list. We whizzed around the South of France stopping in Nice, Cannes, and Monaco for the Grand Prix.

On Your Marks, Get Set, GO!

Lets take it from the top! Our starting line was a very comfortable and smooth flight with British Airways. This was my first European  flight with BA and my oh my was it an improvement from Ryan Air or Easy Jet other airlines that I will not mention. We had comfy seats and more leg room, we didn't have to pay for our beverages and we even got a lil breaky on the flight! whoop whoop!

We chose to stay in Nice as quite frankly Monaco was just too damn expensive! When we did start looking for accomm in Nice it was so hard to find an apartment that had a normal bed, for some reason everyone in the south loves sofa beds?! And that just can't run with me, so when we found this place we were super relieved. We picked a lovely apart-hotel called Nemea Le Lido 5 mins from the airport. This comfy hotel was exactly what we needed tons of space and perfectly located as we were only a few minutes from the station, there was a bus stop right outside the hotel which took us to Cannes, or Nice airport and shops near by which sold the best Riesling I have ever had, and the best Patisserie EVER! As you can see my main concerns are transport links, wine and cakes :)

Now as I have said there were many great things about the hotel... unfortunately there were a few downsides too. Firstly check in is from 5- 8pm- yes you heard right! So what do you think happened when we arrived at 12pm? Of course we had to get some wine and snacks and chill by the pool until they returned. Now this wasn't bad at all BUTTTTTTTTT when you are drinking in the sun funny things can happen to you. You COULD drink too much and end up passing out at 5pm and then wake up at 12 am, hungry, hungover, dehydrated and annoyed that you've wasted your whole first day. Obviously that didn't happen to us... -_- And then staying in an apart-hotel also meant that the usual items that are readily available aren't always there, like an IRON!? So we spent one morning trying to iron our clothes with a hot pot like we were in the ice ages lol!
Knowing all of this would I still recommend this apartment? absolutely! The staff were friendly, it was clean, spacious, with a nice balcony and really nice pool.

The Grand Prix

Moving on, our first pit stop was the Monaco Grand Prix, we had the best seats in the house sitting in Monte Carlo opposite the Casino and Cafe de Paris. It was exquisite! We felt like we were living the high life- to be honest we actually were.

We watched people come out of their hotel rooms in the bath robes to watch the main event! It was, can I say it? "SICKKKKKK" lol

We went on the Thursday session anyone wanting to go to the Grand Prix without spending a fortune should do the same it's only 74 Euros for a ticket, and you honestly get to see exactly what you would have on the main day. Obviously the atmosphere isn't as heightened but regardless it is the same track, the same drivers, and the same cars and the outcome will be pretty much the same too.

There was a stark difference between the Grand Prix practice sessions and the GP2 Series Practice. The power and skills that the Red bull Team and Lewis Hamilton had were in a league of their own even the Ferrari's weren't able to keep up.

We then snuck into another section that our friends were in, which gave you views of the pit stop. This was quite cool, but not as good as our seats because it was overlooking the straight so you didn't see much in terms of handling and as they were going super fast you saw them for all of 1 second.

At this section there was a lovely bar which had the floor covered in a bed of sand- they certainly gave us that tropical experience. It was gorgeous and the drinks came extra extra strong so word of advice- drink slowly.

After the fun at The Grand Prix, we took some time out to enjoy the beauty of Monte Carlo. It honestly is so beautiful and so romantic, it has that classic Louis xiv feel. It just exudes luxury! Here's a few pics :)

If you have been wondering where my white suit is from it is our NEW RUNAWAY88 SUITS and will be available from Sunday 12th June 2016.

Nights out in Nice

After a couple of nights in we were ready to live it up and party the night away! So off to Nice we went and we had a great time! We headed down to Le Choko, a sophisticated little club that serves great drinks and has great decor. If you are a house lover this joint is perfect for you. We aren't huge house fans, but we still enjoyed ourselves and danced the night away. I wore Runaway88 from head to toe of course! I love this bustier and suede wrap skirt, if you would like one too emails us at info@runaway88.com.

Catching Rays in Cannes

It was sooooooo hot while we were there I literally wanted to sunbath all day!!! The only down side was that the beaches by our hotel were stony so we had venture to Cannes to catch a tan comfortably. Which we didn't mind at all! lol!

We also passed Antibes which also has lovely beaches and on the train we went past Villefranche which looked BEAUTIFUL! Not sure if it was sandy but the area looked amazing, with boats lined up and restaurants dotted around the coastal line, what is there not to love?

After tanning it be sure to grab a drink or a bite to eat, and if you are about that high life shop until you drop!

I absolutely love my Asos Skater Dress and Asos jeweled sandals they are both perfect summer fun!

There's an abundance of restaurants and bars around the beach, we hit up a couple spots we can defo recommend and below are a few we didn't manage to get to.

Zoa (Pictured above) was classy, sleek and had a great atmosphere. We had some yummy sushi whilst we sipped on some white wine. We even had live entertain from Brazilian Capoeira street performers.

Le Marche Is supposed to be the nightclub to go to in Cannes and we will defo hit this up next time we are in town.

Getting Around

Now word of advice to those coming to the South of France. CABS ARE EXTORTIONATE! I knew this from before setting foot on the plane so originally we hired a car but decided to cancel it as we knew driving around those streets would have added unnecessary stress, and parking would have be a nightmare. And I can say with my smug face "I was right, I was right, I was right!" Our friends spent 200 Euro on one cab journey from Monaco to Cannes!! Can I add a helicopter would have been cheaper lol! The way fire would have risen from my scalp. All I can say is THANK GOD that didn't happen to us. We used the trains to get around and apart from a few cancellations and a train strike?! We were absolutely fine. Only 6 Euros to Monaco and 4 Euros to Cannes-  can (nes) you go wrong? lol Dead joke I know.

Anyway Au Revoir!
